We believe in Ayurveda as a core medical practice to support and enhance your body's natural framework to heal itself!
Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine that has its roots in ancient India. The term "Ayurveda" is derived from the Sanskrit words "ayus," meaning life, and "veda," meaning knowledge or science. Thus, Ayurveda can be translated as the "science of life" or the "knowledge of life."
Ayurveda is a holistic approach to healthcare that emphasizes the balance between the body, mind, and spirit to promote overall well-being. It views each individual as a unique combination of the three fundamental energies or doshas, known as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These doshas are believed to govern various physiological and psychological functions within the body.
The primary goals of Ayurvedic practices include preventing illness, promoting longevity, and treating diseases. Ayurvedic treatments may involve lifestyle modifications, dietary guidelines, herbal remedies, yoga, meditation, and detoxification techniques. The system also recognizes the importance of understanding and aligning oneself with the natural rhythms and cycles of the environment to maintain health.
While Ayurveda has ancient roots, it continues to be practiced and has gained popularity in various parts of the world as a complementary or alternative approach to conventional medicine. Dr. Herrero is pursuing a prestigious Masters Fellowship Program in Integrative Medicine and Ayurveda. The Green Room is proud to offer its patients the benefit of her knowledge not only in conventional "Western" medicine, but now also the holistic knowledge of Ayurveda. Ayurvedic assessments are most beneficial when the doctor and patient establish an ongoing relationship with regular checkups-monthly or quarterly.
Sometimes there are obstacles to coming into a medical office, but help is still available. Dr. Herrero is proud to offer concierge mobile visits, where she can meet you in the privacy of your own home, or at the park, or wherever your child thrives. Please give at least 3 days notice when you request your home visit. We can accommodate you with this notice. Dr. Herrero offers in-home service for acute care concern visits like UTI or ear infections. She is also able to offer in-home care for primary care well visits, even immunizations. For all you moms who are delivering your baby at home with a midwife, Dr. Herrero can be there as well! You can schedule a meet & greet to discuss your needs and anticipated due date to make sure she is available.
Take the doctor office visit stress out of the equation and schedule around nap time!

Integrative Medicine is an approach to medical care that combines conventional Western medicine with complementary and alternative therapies (CAM) to treat the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. The goal of Integrative Medicine is to use the best of both conventional and alternative approaches to promote health and address the underlying causes of illness.
Key features of Integrative Medicine include:
1. **Holistic Approach:** Integrative Medicine considers the individual as a whole, taking into account not only physical symptoms but also psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of well-being.
2. **Patient-Centered Care:** It emphasizes a partnership between the patient and healthcare provider, involving the patient in decision-making and considering their values, preferences, and lifestyle.
3. **Combination of Therapies:** It incorporates evidence-based conventional medical treatments along with complementary and alternative therapies such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, yoga, meditation, nutritional counseling, and more.
4. **Prevention and Wellness:** It often focuses on preventive measures and lifestyle modifications to promote overall health and prevent illness.
5. **Personalized Care:** Treatment plans are tailored to the individual, taking into account their unique health history, genetics, and preferences.
6. **Collaborative Care:** Integrative Medicine practitioners may collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals, including medical doctors, naturopaths, chiropractors, nutritionists, and mental health professionals.
Integrative Medicine recognizes that different individuals may respond differently to various treatments, and it aims to address the root causes of health issues rather than just treating symptoms.
