We believe in Ayurveda as a core medical practice to support and enhance your body's natural framework to heal itself!
Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine that has its roots in ancient India. The term "Ayurveda" is derived from the Sanskrit words "ayus," meaning life, and "veda," meaning knowledge or science. Thus, Ayurveda can be translated as the "science of life" or the "knowledge of life."
Ayurveda is a holistic approach to healthcare that emphasizes the balance between the body, mind, and spirit to promote overall well-being. It views each individual as a unique combination of the three fundamental energies or doshas, known as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These doshas are believed to govern various physiological and psychological functions within the body.
The primary goals of Ayurvedic practices include preventing illness, promoting longevity, and treating diseases. Ayurvedic treatments may involve lifestyle modifications, dietary guidelines, herbal remedies, yoga, meditation, and detoxification techniques. The system also recognizes the importance of understanding and aligning oneself with the natural rhythms and cycles of the environment to maintain health.
While Ayurveda has ancient roots, it continues to be practiced and has gained popularity in various parts of the world as a complementary or alternative approach to conventional medicine. Dr. Herrero is pursuing a prestigious Masters Fellowship Program in Integrative Medicine and Ayurveda. The Green Room is proud to offer its patients the benefit of her knowledge not only in conventional "Western" medicine, but now also the holistic knowledge of Ayurveda. Ayurvedic assessments are most beneficial when the doctor and patient establish an ongoing relationship with regular checkups-monthly or quarterly.
Integrative Medicine combines conventional Western care with complementary therapies to treat the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Its goal is to use the best of both worlds to promote wellness and address the root causes of illness.
